Quick update

Basement Poured

Gerie and I stopped by the house today with Kathleen & Carter, and they were removing the forms from pouring the concrete for the basement.  It is hard to believe how fast they get things done.  I talked to our PM Mike and he informed us they would be putting in some of the plumbing and the inspector would be there Monday.  After he inspects the structure they will begin to back fill around the basement.  He also informed us that the lumber would be delivered next week sometime and they should start framing the following week.

Progress

Footers poured

On our way to the fish fry today we stopped by to see if any progress was made at the house with all the cold weather we have been having.  We were surprised to see that the footers had been poured.  While we were there we ran into our PM Mike and he informed us that they would probably pour the basement walls on Wednesday.  I have my doubts that this will happen being that they are calling for 3 to 6 inches of snow on Sunday night into Monday morning so we will see what happens.

Ground has been broken

Breaking Ground

We took a ride today to check on the progress of my daughter and son in laws house and were surprised to see that they broke ground on our house today.  Next up will be the footers and then the basement walls and floors.

Survey complete

I now have sticks!!!!!!

We went out today to see where our home will actually sit on our property and low and behold we have sticks in the ground everywhere.  I really can't figure out what they all mean  other than we are one step closer to breaking ground.

Meeting with Project Manager

Now we are moving along!!!!!!!!!

We had our meeting with Mike our Project Manager today.  The meeting lasted for about an hour and Mike was very informative.  He went over the survey and showed us where our new home will be located on our property.  After he was sure we didn't have any questions on the location, he went over each of the options that we had picked to make sure they were correct.  I had a lot of questions during this and Mike took the time to answer each and every one of them until I was satisfied.  The shower in the owners bath did not come with a seat but Mike said he could fit one in.  This made my wife Gerie very happy (and when Gerie is happy i'm happy)!!!!!!!!  Mike also told us that we will break ground on Tuesday of next week and we should close on the house around June 16th.

Ready to move forward

READY TO MOVE FORWARD

Had a meeting today with our SR Arleen and things went smoothly as they always do with her.  She had answers for us on our questions and concerns that I mentioned in my previous blog. They all were handled to our satisfaction.  They are going to start on our house Tuesday of this week, but we still need to have a meeting with our PM Mike. It is going to be fun watching everything come together in anticipation of the finished home.  I am hoping that my next blog I will have some pictures of the progress.

Just when I thought things were going smooth

Just when I thought things were going smooth

Apparently since I am the first one building a Pisa Torre there seems to be some confusion between corporate and the SR on a few issues.

  • Bedroom 4 foot extension does / does not give you a double bowl sink
  • owners bath does / does not have to be a roman shower

So the above issues pushed our meeting back until next week.
